What is BIS Registration ?
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certification is a mandatory requirement
for products to ensure safety, quality, and performance as per Indian standards. It is essential for manufacturers, importers, and brands dealing with regulated products in India. Currently, 750+ products require BIS certification & this list continues to grow as part of the Government’s efforts to make Indian-made products globally competitive and trusted.
BIS certification is classified into three major categories
1️⃣ ISI Mark Certification – For Indian manufacturers producing regulated products.
2️⃣ FMCS (Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme) – For overseas manufacturers exporting to India.
3️⃣ CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) – For electronic & IT products under mandatory BIS certification.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and BIS have released new mandatory standards under the Solar Systems, Devices & Components Goods Order, 2025. From July 27, 2025, only products that comply with these new standards can be sold in the Indian market
