BIS – ISI

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India offers a specialized certification known as the ISI mark certification. Manufacturers can choose this voluntary certification to show that their goods adhere to the necessary quality and safety standards.

The mandatory requirements for home appliances are regulated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and other relevant government authorities

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR HOME APPLIANCES

Certain home equipment, including refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, electric heaters, and electric fans, must be certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). An appliance bearing the ISI mark means that it has been put through testing in BIS-approved labs and has been determined to meet all applicable Indian standards for performance, quality, and safety. The ISI seal gives customers the reassurance that the appliance complies with requirements and is trustworthy and safe to use.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) requires energy efficiency labels to be placed on a number of household appliances. The BEE star rating labels, which show an appliance’s level of energy efficiency, must be visible on items like refrigerators, air conditioners, fans, and LED lights. Appliances with higher star ratings are more energy-efficient.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in India requires manufacturers, importers, and recyclers of home appliances equipment to get e-waste management authorization. This certification guarantees adherence to the laws and guidelines for the responsible disposal and recycling of electronic waste.
